Welcome

IBSTOCK PLACE SCHOOL is an independent co-educational day school for pupils aged 3 to 18, providing a rich variety of opportunity in a friendly, supportive atmosphere with a strong family ethos.

Our school is on the edge of Richmond Park in south-west London. If you would like to visit us, please see the Contacts page for details.

We are academically strong and our pupils perform very impressively in public examinations. Our pupils’ GCSE and IGCSE results for 2011 were record breaking. 71% of all GCSE and IGCSE entries were graded at A* or A and nineteen of our pupils achieved the top two grades in all of their subjects. In stark contrast to the national scene, all of our pupils were awarded pass grades (A*-C) in two modern foreign languages, with the vast majority being at A*-A. In French, 92% of candidates were placed in the top two grades while performances in the other core subjects were equally encouraging.

At Sixth Form level, GCE A Level and Pre-U results were no less strong. Eleven of our Upper Sixth pupils achieved all A* or A grades and 76% of all examination entries were graded at A*-B. As a consequence, our pupils will shortly be taking up places at a range of prestigious universities including Cambridge, Imperial College, Bristol, Durham, Warwick, King's College, London and Exeter.

Please follow the link on the right (Examination Results) for a detailed break down of both of our IGCSE and A Level results and the destinations of our pupils for higher education.

We look forward to meeting you.

ISI Inspection Report 2010...

ISI INSPECTION REPORT 2010

From the Headmistress:

Ibstock Place School has received a resounding endorsement for its quality of education, the high standard of care and relationships, and the effectiveness of the school’s governance and management, in the latest report, just published, from independent school inspectors.

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) main findings record: “At the heart of the success of the school is a vision of its purpose which is shared by pupils, staff and governors. Pupils, including the children in the Early Years Foundation Stage, achieve significant success in their learning and have excellent personal development, thus meeting the school’s intellectual, personal and social goals for its pupils. Academically, pupils are very successful.

“Pupils’ personal qualities are outstanding. Pupils are engaging, curious and committed to striving for the best, happily stating that the school helps them to appreciate that success is mainly the result of hard work and commitment. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere of the school is marked.

“The leadership of the senior management team and the governors contributes significantly to the positive and ambitious spirit which typifies the school. Whilst the last report in 2004 made no recommendations for improvement, it is typical of the leadership of the school that they set themselves a series of further targets to enhance the pupils’ educational experience”.

I am delighted that the excellent work of the Kindergarten, Preparatory School and Senior School has been endorsed by the Inspectorate, and pay tribute to the dedicated and outstanding work of my staff and pupils. This report confirms that we have reached, indeed surpassed our aspirations.

Safeguarding and Promoting Welfare...

Ibstock Place School recognises that Safeguarding and Promoting Welfare covers much more than child protection, so our Child Protection Policy operates in conjunction with other policies, namely:

  • Anti-Bullying Policy
  • Behaviour Management Policy
  • Child Exploitation and Online Protection Policy
  • Health and Safety Policy
  • Physical Intervention Policy

School aims to provide a safe environment for pupils and to educate them about keeping safe themselves. There are therefore systems in place to:

  • Prevent unsuitable people from working with pupils
  • Identify pupils who are at risk of and/or likely to suffer harm and take appropriate action
  • Promote safe practice and challenge unsafe practice

We encourage pupils to raise concerns and we take their concerns seriously. The daily and termly tutorial programme, along with School Council, provide opportunities for pupils to collectively contribute ideas about safety and welfare. The House system for pastoral care encourages pupils to share individual concerns with their Peer Mentors, House Captains or their Deputies (VI pupils), whilst Tutor – pupil relationships based on trust encourage individuals to talk to teachers openly.

The Child Protection Policy can be downloaded from this site.
