Pastoral Care: Pre-Prep
The Nursery and Kindergarten follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Guidelines for care and personal development. Children are active, engaged and learn how to take turns and make friendships.
Arrivals and collection
Nursery children are delivered and collected from the Garden Door of the Nursery between 8.00am and 8.25am and at the end of the School Day at 1.00pm.
Children in the Kindergarten (Reception) and Prep 1 (Year 1) are welcomed into School by their teachers at the Priestman House gate between 8.00am and 8.25am. Pupils are escorted to their classrooms, where they are helped to prepare for the morning's activities. At the end of the School Day, children are collected at 3.30pm from the Playground.
The School Day
Morning Registration takes place at 8.30am with lessons following until 10.10am. There is a 20 minute morning break for play, with lessons then continuing until 11.45am. Lunch is served in the Conservatory, followed by play. Afternoon Registration commences at 12.45pm, followed by lessons until 2.30pm. These continue after an afternoon play break of 15 minutes until the end of the School Day at 3.30pm.
The School Nurse
The School Nurse is present during School hours and is based in the Medical Suite. In the event of an emergency, parents or carers will be contacted immediately but the nurse will accompany a pupil to hospital if parents cannot be contacted.
Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Ibstock Place School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All members of staff undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Criminal Records Bureau.
