The Nursery and Kindergarten
Priestman House (up to 7 year olds)
|
The Kindergarten's curriculum and approach is based on the principles of Friedrich Froebel. Throughout the Kindergarten, children learn through enquiry and experience. We place strong emphasis on core curriculum subjects and by involving our young pupils in curriculum project time they learn about the inter-relatedness of subjects such as science, design, ICT and the humanities. The children experience the satisfaction of personal achievement and develop the ability to work co-operatively with each other. Their work will often involve class visits to museums, the theatre and environmental centres, as well as specialist workshops.
Music, Dance, Art and French are taught by specialist teachers and pupils use the swimming pool and dedicated ICT suite on a regular basis. Pupils sit the Standard Assessments Tasks, (SATS), at Key Stage 1.
