Welcome Event
1. Visit Us
The best way to get a feel for our School is to visit us.
We warmly invite you to see the School for yourself, and meet our wonderful pupils and staff.
We offer open events and small group tours throughout the academic year. Please click on the link below to book your place at one of our admissions events.
2. Register Your Child
BY TUESDAY 31 OCTOBER 2023
To apply for a place you will need to register your child by clicking on the button below.
For Senior School entry in September 2024, you must register your child by our deadline of Tuesday 31 October 2023.
We operate a rolling registration system and welcome early registrations for later years. The fee for registration is £160, which you will be asked to pay upon submission of the form. Please note that this fee is non-refundable but may be transferred to a subsequent year.
If you experience any difficulties with the online registration process please contact our Registrar who will be happy to help.
3. Access Arrangements
BY TUESDAY 31 OCTOBER 2023
As part of the registration process, we ask if there are any special accommodations that we can make for your child on our assessment days.
In order to make necessary accommodations, we will need a letter from your child's current School outlining a confirmation of arrangements made for any assessments taken at the School. We will also ask for any other supporting documentation such as a report from an Educational Psychologist or equivalent.
4. Assessment Stage One
SATURDAY 25 NOVEMBER 2023
All registered applicants will be invited to the first stage of the 11+ assessment at Ibstock.
The first stage assessment will incorporate:
A) An online cognitive aptitude test (CAT). This is an adaptive computer-based test assessing Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Mathematics.
B) A Learning Workshop. In groups of ten, applicants will take part in a fun problem-solving task where there is no single answer. This group activity assesses problem solving, lateral thinking, intellectual curiosity, creativity, teamwork and independent work.
5. Scholarship Application
BY FRIDAY 15 DECEMBER 2023
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit scholarship applications.
The scholarship application form will be sent to those who have sucessfully passed through the first stage of the assessment process.
We are pleased to offer a range of scholarships in areas including academics, sports, expressive arts, music, critical thinking and charitable/community activities. Scholarships are granted based on merit and are separate to Bursary applications, which are granted based on financial circumstances. Scholarships may sit alongside Bursaries for qualifying pupils. Scholarships will typically last for the duration of a pupil's time at the school, subject to maintaining sufficiently high standards.
Further details of what an Ibstock scholarship entails and information about bursaries can be found by clicking the links below.
6. Assessment Stage Two
14 DECEMBER & 15 DECEMBER 2023
Shortlisted applicants will be invited back to Ibstock for the second stage of the assessment.
Our shortlist is determined by each applicant's performance in the first assessment stage, along with any contextual information from the confidential reference from their current School.
The second stage assessment will incorporate:
A) A written English paper
B) A Mathematics paper
Each paper will last one hour and will cover material that is covered as part of the National Curriculum up until the end of Year 5. The papers are written ‘in house’ by our Head of Mathematics and Head of English.
All applicants will have the opportunity to meet ‘one-to-one' with some of our teachers so that we can get to know them a bit better and so that applicants can learn more about what the School offers. This is not part of the assessment process.
7. Offer Decisions
FRIDAY 9 FEBRUARY 2024
Offer decisions will be sent by email.
If you have applied for a Bursary or a Scholarship, decisions on these applications will be sent separately.
8. Activities Afternoon for Offer Holders
LATE FEBRUARY 2024
We invite all Offer Holders and their families back to Ibstock Place School to take part in some fun activities and to have another look at the School before making a final decision.
9. Deadline for Offer Acceptance
FRIDAY 1 MARCH 2024
You will be asked to confirm acceptance of our offer and pay an acceptance deposit of £1,750 (which is returned to you when your child leaves the school).
The deposit is not refundable should the place subsequently be declined, if more than 14 days have elapsed after the acceptance deadline.
10. Welcome Event
JUNE 2024
All pupils who have accepted offers will be invited back to the School to take part in some activities to get to know their future classmates, the School, and key members of staff such as their Tutor and Heads of House.
