Co-Curricular Activities

Sixth form pupils working on a podcast at Ibstock Place School, a private school near Richmond, Barnes, Putney, Kingston, and Wandsworth.

There are many opportunities in the Sixth Form for pupils to get involved in a wide range of exciting co-curricular activities.

In addition to Clubs and Societies, we encourage pupils to take on roles that will help prepare them for life after school, such as those involving leadership or mentoring.

Lower Sixth Form pupils do volunteering once a week usually in the community at local primary schools such as The Alton, Mosaic and Linden Lodge.

Many also mentor younger pupils at the school through our House system. Other opportunities include leading a club or society and a great many Sixth Form pupils complete their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

An adventure from start to finish, pupils make incredible memories, from trying new hobbies and volunteering in the community to camping under glaciers and alongside mountain streams.

We are proud to offer the DofE award programme at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.

Those that have completed their Bronze and Silver can then move on to Gold in Sixth Form. At Gold level there are five sections to complete. They involve helping the community/environment, becoming fitter, developing new skills, planning, training for and completing an expedition and, for Gold only, working with a team on a residential activity.

The award is not competitive. Instead, it places great emphasis on personal development through working individually and as part of a team towards a challenging goal.

The Award encourages pupils to develop skills that are complementary to those they develop in School. Doing the ‘DofE’ allows pupils to thrive as mature, empathetic and engaged citizens. Most of all, it allows them to make friends and to have fun.

Ibstock Festival

The annual Ibstock Festival takes place over two weeks in the summer term and brings together an exciting programme of talks, trips, workshops, sports activities, and performances, both on and off site.

It is a wonderful opportunity to extend learning beyond the classroom and for Upper Sixth Formers, an opportunity to celebrate the exam period being over.

From paintballing and pottery to ‘The Great Ibstock Bake-Off’ and ‘It’s a Knockout’, there’s something for everyone.
