Athletics |

Athletics forms a key part of the PE curriculum during the Summer term. Pupils participate in all athletic events and those that wish to further their athletic performance can train in our co-curricular club. Ibstock's extensive on-site fields convert into a 200m track with additional track space for hurdles and sprints, along with all throwing and jumping events. Pupils compete in many intra-school competitions as well as Ibstock's annual athletics competition and Inter House Track and Field Championships on the all-weather track at Barn Elms. At Borough level, our boys’ and girls’ teams always finish within the top three schools and each year large numbers of our competing athletes secure medals in individual events. Cross Country takes place during the Autumn and Spring Terms. All pupils take part in our Inter House Cross Country where we take full advantage of our proximity to Richmond Park. It also provides the perfect location for Cross Country Club. Our elite performers go on to compete for London in the English Schools Cross Country Championships and the ESAA Cross Country Cup competition. |

Several Ibstock pupils play at County level, and those showing strong potential are encouraged to join local clubs to further their development. As pupils progress through the school, they enjoy opportunities to take part in local and international tours and training camps, broadening their experience and exposure to the sport. We are particularly proud of our outreach partnership with Spencer Lynx Hockey Club, which extends coaching opportunities to pupils in two local primary schools. This initiative, supported by senior pupils in coaching roles, strengthens community connections and promotes wider access to the game. |
