Our aim is to ensure that Sport at Ibstock is accessible to all through outstanding curriculum lessons, varied co-curricular opportunities, fixtures, and House Sport events.
The essential skills sport builds enhances all aspects of our pupils’ development, from their ability to learn to their health, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Above all, we want pupils to enjoy sport and feel confident to ‘have a go’ in a fair and supportive setting.

Games
Games offer pupils the chance to focus on a key team sport. The Autumn and Spring Term are split into three equal blocks to accommodate three major games. All pupils will have the opportunity to represent Ibstock in sporting fixtures.

Physical Education
Physical Education (PE) lessons are designed to give pupils a broad experience of different sports, helping them build strong foundations in health, fitness, and sporting knowledge. All Pupils will participate in Swimming, Gymnastics, and Athletics in every year from Prep 3-6. Pupils are encouraged to extend their experience through our wide range of co-curricular activities.
Co-Curricular Clubs and Fixtures
In addition to timetabled PE and Games lessons, our co-curricular clubs provide yet another way to make Sport accessible to pupils of all abilities. Examples of Prep co-curricular sports include Tennis, Cycling, Gymnastics, Karate, Basketball, Table Tennis and Cross Country.
All pupils, regardless of ability, take part in House Sport events which encourage teamwork and trying new skills while supported by their House. These culminate in the annual Prep Sports Day.
We play competitively with Schools across the borough and beyond, with teams for all our major sports and a range of fixtures held both during and after school.

Football |

Girls and boys play Football as part of their timetabled Games lessons. In 2024 we were the ISA Girls Cup Winners and placed highly in many other tournaments. For boys, it is our most popular sport, with fantastic numbers at sports training and fixtures. |
Hockey |
Boys and girls play Hockey as part of their timetabled Games lessons. Teams participate in regular fixtures in addition to the annual tournaments held by Surrey County, Wandsworth and local schools. A highlight of 2024 was our U11 Team qualifying for the Surrey Girls' Hockey Finals. |
Netball |
Netball is an extremely popular competitive sport at Ibstock, with girls playing as part of their timetabled Games lessons. In addition, there are weekly training sessions and regular fixtures Ibstock teams regularly take part in tournaments run by local schools, Wandsworth Borough and the ISA. |
Rugby |
Boys participate in Rugby as part of their timetabled Games lessons. Games are played according to national governing body guidelines with regards to contact at a young age. |
Gymnastics |
Boys and girls participate in Gymnastics as part of their PE lessons. A large number of pupils also take part in co-curricular Gymnastics Club, with a squad session for our competitive pupils. Last year the teams took part in the following competitions:

Swimming |
Girls and boys swim in our on-site 18 metre pool as part of their PE lessons. Our Swim squad have a weekly training and attend numerous galas, regularly qualifying for the ISA National Finals. |
Athletics and Cross Country |
We have an active Cross Country and Athletics Calendar.
The highlight of our Athletics year for all children are our wonderful sports days, held on the School field. Pupils compete in their houses across the athletics events they have been busy practising in lessons Competitively, we take part in the ISA Athletics Championships, followed by the national finals held at the wonderful Commonwealth stadium in Birmingham. |
