‘…pupils are taught to become independent critical thinkers...’
‘The whole school is led impressively by Chris Wolsey. Engaged and accessible, he brings a collegiate style of leadership to the school community.’
‘This all-through school on the edge of Richmond Park seamlessly combines tradition and innovation…’
‘From personal experience – and it’s the consensus among my peers – I believe that Christopher Wolsey is somebody who genuinely cares about the wellbeing and opinions of the students.’ So says one satisfied parent of Ibstock’s head. And Wolsey cares about the pupils’ articulacy, too.

'Alongside forging positive relationships with his charges, he puts great emphasis on their oracy: the public-speaking team recently triumphed in a competition at Cambridge University; and through membership of the The Noisy Classroom organisation, the debaters can argue the toss with children from around the world.'

'The new Esports arena is match-fit for gamers; the school team has exploded onto the Esports Rocket League, already winning silverware; and did we mention that there’s an incoming head of AI? However, if all this doesn’t sound enticing enough, the roster of foreign adventures should clinch it. ‘Over the next few years, my lucky son is hoping to go on a classics trip to Pompeii and a Tuscan art retreat, as well as language-study visits to Munich and Valencia, skiing in Switzerland and surfing in France,’ reports one parent.'

‘…the range of community and charity activities that my son is involved with is amazing.’
‘We love everything about Ibstock and our son is incredibly happy there.’
‘Very happy indeed with the school as a parent. Most importantly, my daughter is happy and flourishing. Thank you.’
‘It’s given me so many opportunities... I don’t think there could be a better school for me.’
‘Right from the beginning I was made to feel at home.’
‘Ibstock helped me achieve the grades I needed…but more importantly it helped me to explore my interests and talents.’
NurseryWe are delighted to announce the opening of our new Nursery in September 2026, extending Ibstock's exceptional Pre-Prep provision to boys and girls aged 3–4 years. Purpose built to inspire early curiosity and joyful discovery, the Nursery will offer a warm, nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore, imagine, and grow under the guidance of experienced early years practitioners. Rooted in our values of kind hearts, curious minds and courageous futures, this new setting will champion empathy, spark a love of learning, and build the confidence children need as they begin their educational journey. |
Mrs Alice DeslongraisHead of Nursery & Pre-Prep School |

Based within the Pre-Prep building, our spacious new nursery has been purposefully designed to meet the needs of our youngest learners.
The Nursery benefits from its own secure, enclosed outdoor area, as well as access to the larger playground, giving children plenty of space to explore and play.
Within the Pre-Prep building, children enjoy a range of excellent facilities, including the kitchen for cooking activities and the library to foster a love of reading. They also have access to wider school facilities, including our Forest School, enriching their learning experience even further.
Our Nursery curriculum is broad, engaging and thoughtfully planned to meet each child’s individual stage of development, interests and abilities. We provide a rich indoor and outdoor learning environment with high-quality continuous provision, allowing children to explore, discover and learn independently throughout the day. Through carefully planned activities, we nurture curiosity, problem-solving skills, creativity, and strong communication and language development.
We operate an open-door policy for parents and carers to come in at any time to talk to teachers or member of the Primary Leadership Team.
Communication between Ibstock Nursery and families is centred on a close, supportive partnership. Staff will share regular learning updates, progress information and photographs through the Arc app, giving parents a clear picture of their child’s experiences. Parents are encouraged to speak with staff at any time, with teachers available at the end of each day and a daily message book at drop‑off for sharing important information. Staff also use this book to note anything parents need to be aware of, such as a minor fall.
Families are invited to key information sessions across the year, including a Welcome Talk in the Summer Term before children start, an Autumn Term Curriculum Talk outlining the year ahead, and a Phonics Information Session later in the Autumn Term, explaining how early phonics is introduced.
